A small, vibrant team of artisans in Omaha, Nebraska, ethically and resourcefully handmake ARTIFACT's bags, aprons, and other products. Our building was previously a printmaking studio, and it did not require rehab or new construction. We rescued most of our production equipment sitting fallow in dilapidated midwestern buildings since the 1990’s, when commercial sewing shifted abroad.  

Most brands farm out production to factories that emphasize speed and turnaround over quality. You can see and feel the difference in resulting products that are not meant to last and do not carry the pride of their makers. If these factories-for-hire are located abroad or are not transparent in employment and production processes, how do you know how they treat workers and the environment? 

Less than 10% of ARTIFACT's waste goes to a landfill. Our local partner Hillside Solutions sorts and composts or recycles all the rest. We are striving to become a zero-waste company.

ARTIFACT was founded in 2010 on the enduring principle of handmaking a product with the finest materials focused on quality, utility, and timeless design. 

Quality is an environmental issue. We build our products to last. In the rare situation when one of our products needs a repair, we gladly do it for a nominal fee, so ARTIFACT's products stay in use, add character with age, and never end up in a landfill. 

We ship our products in a recycled mailer or recyclable box, and we encourage local pickup for Omaha-area customers.
