Ready to tackle socks? Join us for making socks from the cuffs to the toes, and learning how to turn those heels. Choose to learn or develop your skill with magic loop or double point needles as we work through this versatile everyday sock. 

Three 2-hour sessions

Skills needed:  This class is intermediate to advanced - students must know how to knit, purl, increase, decrease and work in the round

Skills learned: 

  • Turning heels
  • Picking up stitches
  • Increasing and decreasing in the round
  • Short rows
  • Kitchener stitch

Materials:

  • Yarn: For Rye Light: 120-480 yards of sock yarn
    • Recommend Alegria, Havriland, or NFC Studio Sock
    • For Rye: 150-300 yards of worsted weight wool
    • Recommended Alegria Grande or Hudson+West Forge
  • For Rye Light: US1 and US2 DPNS or 32”+ cable for magic loop
    • For Rye: US3 and US5 DPNS or 32”+ cable for magic loop
  • Stitch Markers
  • Tapestry Needle
  • A Copy of Rye Socks or Rye Light from Tin Can Knits
