Three 2 hour classes

Skills needed: experience in fair isle knitting, experience in sweater making 

Skills learned:

  • how to swatch for fair isle sweaters
  • how to adjust for gauge issues 

Materials:

  • Worsted Weight Yarn in 4 Colors (yardage is estimated, recommend buying more than listed to complete homework and account for any gauge variation): 
    • C1: 184 (207, 230, 253, 276, 299) {322, 345, 368, 391} yards 
    • C2: 274 (308, 343, 377, 412, 446) {480, 514, 548, 584} yards 
    • C3: 63 (71, 78, 86, 94, 102) {110, 117, 125, 133} yards 
    • C4: 70 (79, 87, 96, 105, 114) {122, 131, 140, 148} yards 
  • Needles: US 5 (3.75mm) and US 7 (4.5mm) sized for completing neck line (16”)  yoke (32-40”) and sleeves (small circ, DPN or magic loop)(or size required to obtain gauge)

Homework: Cast on 90 stitches on smaller needle, complete 1” ribbing in C2. Move to larger needle and complete 2 repeats of “body” chart, finishing ribbing in C1. Wash and block your cowl and bring to class 1 for gauge analysis.
