Sweater knitting can be daunting, but with super bulky yarn you will marvel at how fast the Ursa sweater knits up. With this size inclusive pattern you will learn how to knit from the top down, German Short Rows, and the Half Brioche stitch.

Three 2 hour sessions

Instructor: Jennifer

Skills needed:  ability to knit, purl, increase/decrease and work in the round.

Skills learned: 

  • Swatching and gauge
  • Taking Body Measurements 
  • Reading a schematic and selecting size
  • Following sweater instructions
  • Increasing and decreasing
  • German Short Rows
  • Hold Stitches, Pick Up From Scrap Yarn
  • Half Brioche Stitch 
  • Finishing


  • 450-950 yard super bulky yarn. See sizes below to find the correct yardage for your size.
  • US#10.5 (6.5 mm) long circular needle, and needles for preferred method of small circumference knitting (magic loop, two circulars, or DPNs) or size needed to obtain gauge of 11.5 stitches and 20 rows = 4 inches in stockinette
  • Stitch Markers
  • Spare Yarn or Stitch Holders
  • Tapestry Needle
  • A Copy of Ursa by Jacqueline Cieslak, available on Ravelry


Finished bust circumference: (34, 38, 42) [46, 50, 54] {58, 62, 66} inches

Yarn requirements by yardage: (450, 500, 550) [600, 675, 750] {825, 900, 950} 



Before First Class:  Purchase yarn and complete a gauge swatch before arriving to class. Swatch should be blocked.
