Hudson + West Weld

We are excited to bring Hudson and West Co. yarns into space this fall, just in time to inspire your seasonal stitching. Designer-driven and knitter-focused, Hudson + West is about making yarns that you’ll want to return to over and over. They source and produce their yarns in the U.S., using a traceable, sustainable, and fair supply chain.
Hudson + West was founded in 2019 by Meghan Babin, the former editor of Interweave Knits, and Sloane Rosenthal, a knitwear designer. The name evokes their disparate locations: Meghan hails from New York’s Hudson River Valley, while Sloane calls the San Francisco Bay Area home.
Weld is made from the same beautifully heathered blend of Corriedale and Merino fleece, sourced from the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico and New York’s Hudson Valley.
Weld is a well-balanced three-ply yarn, with a slightly more energetic twist for strength and durability. It has a beautiful balance of stitch definition, bounce, and wooly, cohesive bloom that produces both beautiful stockinette fabrics and delicate lace, texture, and brioche, and is perfect for stranded colorwork. Weld blooms beautifully and easily knits up on larger needles; we like it on anywhere from a US 3 to a US 6 (3.25 to 4.00 mm), depending on the application.
