Take time this summer to learn a new skill and create a fun knitted cap for cooler weather. The Gr8 Gingham hat is a great way to swatch for the coordinating sweater The Gr8 Gingham Raglan.
3 two-hour sessions
Skills needed:
- Knit and purl stitch
- Working in the round
- Unknitting (“tinking”)
Skills learned:
- Tubular Cast on, Italian Cast on
- Keeping proper tension in stranded colorwork
- Maintaining a colorwork pattern while decreasing
- Working small circumferences: double pointed needles and magic loop
Materials:
- (S, M, L) to fit head circumference up to: (21, 23, 25+) inches
- MC (Main Color): 325 yds sport weight yarn. We recommend WoolDreamers Dehesa de Barrera, De Rerum Natura Ulysse
CC (Contrast Color) 200 yds sport weight yarn. We recommend Spincycle Yarns Dyed in the Wool
- Ribbing: US 4 (3.5mm) 16” circular needles
Main Body: US 6 (4.0mm) 16” circular needles and preferred small circumference needles (either double points or extra-long circulars for magic loop) - Several stitch markers (one unique for the beginning of the round), row counter, scissors, tapestry needle
- A purchased copy of the Gr8 Gingham Hat pattern by Jessie Maed Designs
