Introduction to Tapestry Weaving

Learn the basics of tapestry weaving in this workshop by making a small wall hanging.

Two 1.5 hour sessions

Skills learned:

  • warp a tapestry loom
  • weave stitch patterns
  • weave multiple colors
  • weave shapes
  • make fringe


  • Schacht Schools Loom or Schacht Lilli Loom (Recommended) or Black Sheep Goods Pop Out Loom and Tools, with our without yarn.
  • ball of Kelbourne Woolens Mojave for warp (any color)
  • Table/kitchen fork
  • Thick yarns, thin yarns, roving, fabric, or ribbon ​in multiple colors (we suggest the Neighborhood Fiber Co weaving kit, which comes in several color options  and contains a great variety of bits of yarn and fiber for a wonderful wall hanging).
