Keep your hands warm with handmade mittens. This class is a great choice for students ready to make their very first pair.
Two 2-hour sessions
Skills needed:
- Proficiently cast on, knit and purl in the round
Skills learned:
- increasing
- decreasing
- transferring stitches from waste yarn/ picking up stitches
Materials:
- 220 yards of worsted weight yarn: Kelbourne Woolens Germantown is recommended
- US#4 (3.75mm) and US#6 (4.5mm) in your preferred method for working small circumferences in the round: DPNs, 9" circulars or 40" circular for magic loop.
- Stitch markers, waste yarn, tapestry needle, scissors
- One copy of the pattern Building Blocks Mittens by Kate Gagnon Osborn
Preparation:
Cast on for the mitten cuff and work the length recommended for your chosen size.
