Skill Builder: Illusion Knitting

$50.00
Availability: In stock (5)

At first, you see a simple striped fabric. But wait, look at it from a different angle and suddenly a new pattern appears! It’s not magic, although it can seem like it. Illusion knitting, also called shadow knitting, takes advantage of the height difference in garter vs stockinette fabric to create a secondary image. While the charts can be a bit intimidating at first, the results will make you seem like a magician!

Skills Needed:

  • Knitting and purling
  • Reading a chart highly recommended

Materials:

  • 2 contrasting colors of yarn in a weight you enjoy working in. Worsted weight is a good default.
  • Needles of an appropriate size for your yarn

Preparation:

  • CO 20 stitches and work 3 rows of garter in one color.
